Our partner is a company offering digital solutions that help governments manage and improve their services. We’re looking for a Solution Architect to join a long-term international project (4 years total duration) for the EU’s operational arm for border security – an organization that supports and coordinates national agencies in safeguarding the European Union’s external frontiers while upholding European values and fundamental rights.

Brief position description
This role offers an opportunity to influence mission-critical EU-level systems while advancing your expertise within a structured, international public-sector environment. As a Solution Architect, you will lead the design and governance of large-scale, microservices-based .NET systems within complex, high-impact digital transformation programmes. You will translate business and technical requirements into scalable architectures, define standards for development and quality, and ensure seamless integration across distributed components and external systems. Working with Azure, Kafka, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Redis, SQL Server and related Microsoft technologies, you will shape end-to-end solutions that meet strict performance, security, and reliability expectations. Your role will also involve modelling in UML, working with enterprise architecture tools, and guiding teams throughout the full systems lifecycle.
In this position, you will drive technical decision-making, evaluate solution options, and mentor development teams while ensuring architectural consistency across projects. You will analyse existing systems, propose improvements, support estimation and planning, and contribute to testing, quality assurance, and change management. A strong foundation in software engineering methodologies (Agile, RUP, ISO12207), systems integration, and enterprise-grade design is essential, alongside excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Solution Architect – Key Responsibilities
- Designs, communicates, and maintains end-to-end system architecture, ensuring interoperability and integration with other systems.
- Translates business, user, and technical requirements into scalable architectural solutions aligned with project goals.
- Establishes and enforces standards for design, development, testing, quality, and technology selection.
- Evaluates existing systems, identifies improvement opportunities, and proposes solution options.
- Supports delivery by estimating development efforts, contributing to design, QA, and change management.
- Prepares architectural documentation, diagrams, and presentations, guiding development teams and best practices.
- Monitors system metrics and optimizes architecture for performance, security, scalability, and overall quality.
Solution Architect – Main requirements
- Practical experience in design and development of large scale systems in microservices
.NET based architecture with large knowledge systems; - Experience with following technologies: Azure, Kafka, SQL Server, Redis, OpenShift/Kubernetes, Microsoft Azure;
- Leadership, great problem-solving and communication skills;
- Technical knowledge of databases, application servers, communication middleware, web servers, GIS services, directory services, systems security on Microsoft
platforms, business intelligence concepts, systems integration and Integrated Development Environments; - Experience in designing in UML;
Knowledge of software development methodologies, lifecycles and artefacts like RUP, ISO12207 and Agile methodologies; - Experience in systems modelling tools like Sparx Enterprise Architect, Aris Architect or others;
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in ICT is obligatory.
- English level: minimum C1, confirmed by certificate (including free online certificate).
- Certifications (at least one): in architecting software solutions (e.g. TOGAF Certified), or Certified UML Professional certificate at foundation level, or an equivalent certification recognized internationally (subject to acceptance as a valid credential by the client).
Solution Architect – What is in it for you?
- Competitive salary: Up to 9900 EUR/month on B2B contract (up to 471,20 EUR/day).
- 220 paid working days a year on B2B contract.
