Our partner is a company offering digital solutions that help governments manage and improve their services. We’re looking for a SharePoint Solutions Architect to join a long-term international project (4 years total duration) for the EU’s operational arm for border security – an organization that supports and coordinates national agencies in safeguarding the European Union’s external frontiers while upholding European values and fundamental rights.

Brief position description
This role offers the opportunity to shape mission-critical EU digital systems by leading the architecture and evolution of enterprise-scale SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365 solutions within a structured, international governance environment. As a SharePoint Solutions Architect, you will define design, development, quality, and testing standards; translate business, user, and technical requirements into secure, scalable architectures; and ensure seamless integration with Microsoft platforms, Azure services, and external systems via APIs. You will analyse existing systems, evaluate solution options, estimate and size development work, and guide teams across the full system lifecycle—from architecture design and documentation to testing, performance optimisation, security, and change management. Acting as a technical authority, you will select and assess technologies, lead development processes, interpret system metrics, and ensure solutions align with long-term business goals, operational effectiveness, and strict EU public-sector quality and compliance expectations.

SharePoint Solutions Architect – Key Responsibilities
- Sets standards in scope of design, development, quality and testing
- Designs and communicates system architecture, interoperability and interfaces with other systems
- Elicits needs, analyses requirements
- Transfers business, users and technical needs into architectures
- Maps business goals, project benefits, priorities, components, system features
- Analyses available systems and identify options for potential solutions
- Maintains and tracks architecture in systems lifecycle
- Estimate and size software development works
- Contributes to systems design, testing, quality assurance, change management
- Prepares system documentation and provides presentations
- Lead development teams and development processes
- Selects and evaluates technologies
- Collects and interprets system metrics
- Optimizes system from performance, security and quality points of view
SharePoint Solutions Architect – Main requirements
- Minimum 8 years of experience in IT, including 5+ years in a similar position of Solutions Architect
- Knowledge of SharePoint Online architecture, its main components, and the broader Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
- Experience with PowerShell and custom client-side languages.
- Knowledge of Cloud services, particularly Microsoft Azure, and basic networking and Active Directory concepts.
- Skilled in Microsoft’s low-code development platforms for creating custom applications and automating processes within the SharePoint environment.
- ntegration of SharePoint with other Microsoft applications and external services using APIs
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in ICT is obligatory.
- English level: minimum B2, confirmed by certificate (including free online certificate).
- Certifications (at least two): Master level certificate in a relevant software development technology domain or in architecting software solutions (e.g. TOGAF Certified) OR Certified UML Professional certificate at foundation level OR an equivalent cer fica on recognized interna onally (subject to acceptance as a valid credential by the Client )
SharePoint Solutions Architect – What is in it for you?
