Due to continued product expansion and global traction, they are expanding their engineering team and looking for a Technical Lead, Machine Learning to own the execution layer of the company’s intelligence — translating research direction into reliable, scalable, production-grade ML systems.

About the Company and the Position
Our client is building a high-reliability, AI-first application focused on long-running workflows, persistent context, and real-world task completion. The system handles multi-step reasoning, interacts with external tools, and remains robust despite non-deterministic model behavior. We are looking for a Technical Lead Machine Learning who sits at the intersection of research, infrastructure, and product — responsible for making models trainable, deployable, observable, and performant under real-world constraints. This is not a management-heavy role. This is a hands-on technical leadership position where your output shapes the intelligence behind a product used by millions.

Technical Lead Machine Learning – Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end ML system execution: Data pipelines, training workflows, evaluation systems, inference architecture, and deployment — all under your ownership.
- Fine-tune and adapt models: Apply state-of-the-art methods including LoRA, QLoRA, SFT, DPO, and distillation to adapt models for real-world product use cases.
- Architect scalable inference systems: Design and operate inference infrastructure balancing latency, cost, and reliability at scale.
- Build and maintain data systems: Design systems for high-quality synthetic and real-world training data to fuel continuous model improvement.
- Implement evaluation pipelines: Cover performance, robustness, safety, and bias in partnership with research leadership.
- Own production deployment: Drive GPU optimization, memory efficiency, latency reduction, and scaling policies across the ML stack.
- Integrate with application engineering: Collaborate closely with backend, mobile, and desktop engineering teams to integrate ML systems cleanly into the product.
- Ship pragmatically: Make well-reasoned trade-offs, ship improvements quickly, and learn from real production usage.
- Operate under real constraints: Deliver solutions that meet demanding production requirements around latency, cost, reliability, and safety.
Technical Lead Machine Learning – Main Requirements
- Real ML systems track record: You have built or shipped ML systems used by real people — not just research demos or internal prototypes.
- Large model expertise: Comfortable working with large models and deeply familiar with their failure modes in production.
- Production-grade code: You write strong, maintainable, correct code and think in systems, not scripts.
- Self-directed and pragmatic: You take full ownership of outcomes, make sound trade-offs, and drive work across the finish line independently.
- Fine-tuning expertise: Hands-on experience with modern fine-tuning and adaptation techniques (LoRA, QLoRA, SFT, DPO, distillation).
- Inference infrastructure depth: Proven experience architecting and operating GPU-based inference systems with real performance constraints.
- Clear communicator: You collaborate well in small, high-trust teams and communicate technical decisions with precision and clarity.
- Quality over credentials: We hire for technical depth, engineering judgment, and ownership — not degrees, Big Tech background, or seniority titles.
