Itentio IT Recruitment
We are partnered with a rapidly growing, well-funded AI-native startup building the next generation of proactive smart assistants for everyday users. Their mission is to fundamentally change how people communicate and get things done — bringing intelligence to conversations, errands, organizing, and workflows with minimal prompting, reducing time spent on everyday tasks by over 90%. Due to continued product expansion and global traction, they are expanding their engineering team and looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to own critical ML subsystems in production and help shape the intelligence behind a product used by millions.
Whom are we looking for – Senior Machine Learning Engineer
Location: 100% Remote (Poland-based)
About the Company and the Position
Our client is building a high-reliability, AI-first application focused on long-running workflows, persistent context, and real-world task completion. The system handles multi-step reasoning, interacts with external tools, and remains robust despite non-deterministic model behavior. We are looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer who operates as an independent owner of critical ML subsystems — someone who takes ambiguous problems, designs practical solutions, and ships systems that run reliably at scale. This is a hands-on, high-impact role focused on depth, not breadth.
Why is it worth joining this company?
- Founding team impact: Build core ML systems powering a global AI product from Day 1 alongside a world-class, high-talent-density engineering team.
- Meaningful ownership: End-to-end ownership of ML subsystems — from data preparation and training through evaluation, inference, and iteration.
- Fast-tracked growth: Clear growth paths and exposure to impactful, challenging ML problems that actively expand your skillset.
- High-trust culture: A remote-first environment that values engineering judgment, accountability, and results — over credentials, titles, or Big Tech pedigree.
- Competitive package: Attractive cash + equity compensation, with comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and life insurance.
Senior Machine Learning Engineer – Key Responsibilities
- Build core ML systems: Design and ship ML systems that power a proactive, long-horizon AI product operating reliably at scale.
- Own work end-to-end: Take full ownership across data preparation, training, evaluation, inference, and iteration cycles.
- Bridge research and production: Turn research ideas into working, production-grade systems that run reliably under real-world constraints.
- Debug and resolve production issues: Identify and resolve model failures and system issues using real production signals with minimal disruption.
- Iterate with speed and precision: Ship, measure outcomes, refine, and repeat — maintaining a high bar for quality at each step.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with research, product, and engineering teams to deliver measurable user impact.
- Mentor and elevate peers: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other ML engineers through example and sound engineering judgment.
- Operate under production constraints: Deliver solutions that meet real-world requirements around latency, cost, reliability, and safety.
Senior Machine Learning Engineer – Main Requirements
- Production ML track record: You have built and shipped ML systems used by real users – not just research prototypes.
- Deep model understanding: You understand how modern ML models behave – and misbehave – in production environments.
- Production-quality code: You write strong, maintainable code and think in systems, not scripts.
- Independent ownership: You take initiative, work autonomously, and drive work across the finish line without hand-holding.
- Fast learner and clear communicator: You learn quickly, communicate with precision, and improve through rapid iteration.
- GPU training and inference experience: Hands-on experience with GPU-based training and inference systems at scale.
- Framework proficiency: Strong command of PyTorch and/or JAX for model development and experimentation.
- Quality over credentials: We hire for engineering judgment, technical depth, and ownership – not degrees, Big Tech background, or seniority titles.
Tech Stack
- Core: Python
- Frameworks: PyTorch / JAX
- Infrastructure: GPU-based training and inference systems
What Success Looks Like
- ML models and systems in production consistently meet accuracy, latency, reliability, and efficiency targets
- Complex production issues are monitored, debugged, and resolved with minimal disruption
- Training, inference, and data pipelines are robust, scalable, and maintainable over time
- Measurable improvements in ML systems driven by real-world signals and user feedback
- Mentorship that raises the overall ML engineering standard across the team
- ML features integrate seamlessly into product and meet business goals through strong cross-functional collaboration
Senior Machine Learning Engineer – What is in it for you?
- Budget: $9,000 – $12,500 USD/month on B2B
- Comprehensive benefits: Option to enroll in health, dental, and life insurance.
- 100% remote setup with full flexibility over your hours in a high-trust, autonomous culture.
- Opportunity to shape core ML architecture of a product built for a global audience from Day 1.
- Budget for continuous learning, courses, and self-development.
