About the Company and the Position
Our client is building a high-reliability, AI-first application focused on long-running workflows, persistent context, and real-world task completion. The system handles multi-step reasoning, interacts with external tools, and remains robust despite non-deterministic model behavior. We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (Agent Systems) whose work sits at the critical junction between models and users — where latency, correctness, reliability, and cost directly impact real-world experience. You will build and operate production systems that turn model capability into fast, stable, observable APIs used across mobile and desktop clients.

Senior Backend Engineer (Agent Systems) – Key Responsibilities
- Build and operate AI backend systems: Design, ship, and maintain backend systems that serve AI-powered features reliably in production at scale.
- Own inference and orchestration: Design inference pipelines, orchestration layers, and service boundaries around models powering the core product experience.
- Drive production reliability: Own monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident response — detect issues early and resolve them with minimal user impact.
- Optimize for performance: Continuously improve latency and throughput across inference, caching, batching, and streaming pipelines.
- Deliver stable APIs: Build clear, stable APIs that support seamless integration with frontend, mobile, and ML systems.
- Iterate from production signals: Use real usage data to drive iterative improvements in system performance and reliability.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with ML engineers, product, and frontend teams to ensure agent systems behave correctly and predictably end-to-end.
Senior Backend Engineer (Agent Systems) – Main Requirements
- Strong backend fundamentals: Proven experience building and operating backend systems in demanding production environments.
- High-throughput systems experience: Track record running high-throughput, low-latency services at scale.
- AI inference familiarity: Hands-on experience with AI inference patterns — LLMs, embeddings, and multimodal systems.
- Distributed systems depth: Comfortable debugging and optimizing distributed systems under real production load.
- Shipping bias: Strong inclination toward getting things into production and learning from real-world behavior rather than over-engineering upfront.
- Production ownership mindset: You monitor, alert, and respond — you don’t just build and hand off.
- Quality over credentials: We hire for engineering judgment, technical depth, and ownership — not degrees, Big Tech background, or seniority titles.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively in a remote, high-trust, fast-paced environment.
