Itentio IT Recruitment
We are partnered with a rapidly growing, well-funded AI-native startup building the next generation of proactive smart assistants for everyday users. Their mission is to fundamentally change how people communicate and get things done — bringing intelligence to conversations, errands, organizing, and workflows with minimal prompting, reducing time spent on everyday tasks by over 90%. Due to continued product expansion and global traction, they are expanding their engineering team and looking for a Applied AI Engineer to help shape the AI behind a product that will be used by millions.
Whom are we looking for – Applied AI Engineer
Location: 100% Remote (Poland-based)
About the Company and the Position
Our client is building a high-reliability, AI-first application focused on long-running workflows, persistent context, and real-world task completion. The system handles multi-step reasoning, interacts with external tools, and remains robust despite non-deterministic model behavior. We are looking for an Applied AI Engineer who can turn raw model capabilities into real user value. You will own problems end-to-end: shaping model behavior, building the systems around it, and ensuring that everything performs reliably in production. This role sits at the intersection of machine learning, systems, and product. It is for an engineer who enjoys taking ambiguous ideas and transforming them into working, measurable, production-grade AI experiences – not just compelling demos.
Why is it worth joining this company?
- Founding team impact: Build AI capabilities powering a global product from Day 1 alongside a world-class, high-talent-density engineering team.
- End-to-end ownership: Own AI features from model behavior and orchestration through system design and user experience.
- Real product impact: Work on problems that directly shape how millions of users communicate, organize, and complete everyday tasks.
- Fast-tracked growth: Solve challenging real-world AI problems across models, systems, infrastructure, and product.
- High-trust culture: A remote-first environment that values engineering judgment, accountability, and results — over credentials, titles, or Big Tech pedigree.
- Competitive package: Attractive cash + equity compensation, with comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and life insurance.
Applied AI Engineer – Key Responsibilities
- Build and ship AI features end-to-end: Take features from model capabilities through system design, implementation, and real user experience.
- Shape model behavior: Design, test, and iterate on prompts, tools, memory, agent workflows, and model interactions.
- Build reliable AI systems: Turn raw model outputs into structured, predictable, and useful product behaviors.
- Debug across the stack: Investigate and resolve issues across models, orchestration, infrastructure, integrations, and UX.
- Optimize for production: Improve latency, cost, reliability, safety, and quality under real-world operating constraints.
- Develop lightweight evaluation frameworks: Build practical ways to measure model and system performance using production signals and user feedback.
- Collaborate across disciplines: Work closely with product, ML, and engineering teams to translate ambiguous problems into working systems.
- Ship, learn, and iterate: Deliver improvements quickly, measure the impact, and continuously refine the product experience.
Applied AI Engineer – Main Requirements
- Strong ML foundations: Solid understanding of machine learning fundamentals and modern neural-network architectures.
- Hands-on model experience: Experience training, fine-tuning, evaluating, or deploying ML models in practical settings.
- Production-quality code: You write clean, maintainable Python code and care about reliability, testing, and observability.
- Full-stack systems mindset: You are comfortable working across abstraction layers — from models and prompts to infrastructure and product experience.
- LLM application experience: Familiarity with LLM APIs, open-source models, tool use, retrieval, memory, agents, or similar AI application patterns.
- Strong problem-solving skills: You can bring structure to ambiguous, fast-moving problems and make sound technical trade-offs.
- Bias toward shipping: You are motivated by practical user impact, rapid iteration, and continuous improvement.
- Quality over credentials: We hire for engineering judgment, technical curiosity, and ownership — not degrees, Big Tech background, or seniority titles.
Tech Stack
- Core: Python
- ML Frameworks: PyTorch / JAX
- Models: LLM APIs, LLaMA, Qwen, and similar models
- Inference: GPU-based serving, including tools such as vLLM
- Data: Vector databases and retrieval systems
What Success Looks Like
- AI features deliver reliable, useful, and predictable experiences for real users.
- Model and system behavior consistently meet expected quality, latency, cost, and reliability targets.
- Production issues are identified quickly, debugged effectively, and resolved at their root cause.
- Evaluation and observability make it clear how AI systems behave in real-world use.
- Model, orchestration, and product improvements are driven by user feedback and measurable signals.
- Strong collaboration with product, research, and engineering teams results in AI-powered features that meaningfully improve the product.
Applied AI Engineer – What is in it for you?
- Budget: $9,000 – $12,500 USD/month on B2B
- Comprehensive benefits: Option to enroll in health, dental, and life insurance.
- 100% remote setup with full flexibility over your hours in a high-trust, autonomous culture.
- Opportunity to shape AI product behavior and core user experiences for a global audience from Day 1.
- Budget for continuous learning, courses, and self-development.
